My husband and I are looking to relocate and are interested in T&C NM. I was wondering what the job and apartment prospects are for a young couple. I am currently a teacher in Ca. and my husband works in construction. Any info at all about the area would be great!

Hello, I'm from Las Cruces, NM. I have lived here all my life and love NM. I have a sister that teaches in Hatch, NM which is only a few miles away from TorC. Her living arrangements are to live in Las Cruces (a slightly bigger city) with more ammenities and commute (45min-traffic not that bad) with several other teacher that do the same. The apartment rates in LC range from $600 to $900 depending on what you want. As for T or C, i'm not sure. It's more of a retirement community, not sure about the apartments.

As for construction jobs, there are a lot or companies available. The NM DOT, State Engineering Dept would be good places to start. Good luck, i hope other reply with more info.

Hi, I am a native of Las Cruces, New Mexico. born here and raised here. I would highly recommend that you visit both the Hobbs, Truth or Consequences and Las Cruces. Also, a small town of out of Las Cruces going towards Hatch and T or C is called Radium Springs....It's really nice and quiet, more like country setting. We need teachers in the Las Cruces area.
In the construction side. A federal building is going up just now and the project is to end at the end of December 2009. Construction in the Las Cruces area is pretty good. Las Cruces is growing but is a nice place to live. Crime is low and the weather is great. we have all 4 seasons. Good Luck!

My husband and i are retiring in Estancia next spring. One visit and we fell in love with the area. Does anyone know about the little details involved with relocating, for example, TV cable hookup, computer hookups, garbage pick up, mail delivery? any information would really be appreciated. we are about 13 miles outside of Estancia

Hi Kathleen, I am from Hobbs, NM, was born in Texas, but our mom moved us into Hobbs when we were still very small. Graduated there. Hobbs is growing but there is really nothing to see in Hobbs,it works for some people. Really an oilfield town, I moved out because of all the crazy things going on,very hard to find good people there, my opinion. I moved into Albuquerque, and I love it!! Mountains, scenary and some many things too, good clean fun!! Hobbs, it is not so beautiful, many small towns surround Hobbs and they are not too pretty either. So Good Luck to you, maybe it is a town for you, What I would like to know is how do you VACATION in Hobbs?
